Our firm’s guiding principles, goals, and initiatives are grounded by our belief that Diversity, Equity & Inclusion must play an important role in everything we do. We not only strive to recruit diverse and talented attorneys but provide opportunities for them to grow, develop and succeed. We also work with clients and other members of the legal community including the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, Corporate Counsel Women of Color, organizations that promote the development and equitable opportunities for women, local and national affinity bars, and law schools to continually make the legal profession better. 

As one example of our DEI-driven events, in celebration of Pride Month, the firm’s Diversity & Inclusion group organized for attorneys and professional staff to wear their “Pride at Troutman Pepper” T-shirts on June 30 to show their pride or allyship. Colleagues in several of our offices joined in the celebration.

Pro Bono & Community Service

Our pro bono program is driven by our passion to address the unprecedented need for competent and effective representation of the indigent and the vulnerable. We encourage our attorneys to choose work that resonates with their commitment to assist underserved people and to nonprofit agencies, and also helps advance our attorneys’ professional skills. Although we dedicate thousands of hours each year to our pro bono practice, we believe the success of our efforts is measured by the results we help our clients achieve rather than the number of hours we volunteer. We help a cross section of clients facing life-changing issues and challenges. Our firm serves people, businesses. and nonprofit organizations. These include veterans, minority-owned startups, first responders, senior citizens, children who are victims of abuse or neglect, unaccompanied minors, and undocumented adults facing deportation, as well as parents and students navigating special education issues in schools. We also partner collaboratively with in-house counsel from corporations such as The Vanguard Group and Delta Air Lines in connection with a variety of initiatives. 

Troutman Pepper also holds regular community service-related initiatives. Recently, we launched our inaugural Week of Service initiative May 23-27, which celebrated our commitment to community service and outreach. More than 650 volunteers across our offices supported close to 50 organizations with various hands-on service projects.

Troutman Pepper YOUniversity

Troutman Pepper is focused on professional development, our main example being the Troutman Pepper YOUniversity, an individualized professional development program designed to help associates advance in their careers. The initiative was created with direct input from associates and combines firm and external resources to offer a holistic approach to training and development by aligning feedback, coaching and expectations to empower and better support associates in their growth.
