Job Description

Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner, a top Am Law 100 firm, is seeking highly motivated, well-qualified associates (two to four years of experience) to join its International Trade practice group in the Washington, D.C. office.
Ideal candidates will have experience in the following areas:
Private practice, industry, or government with respect to legal, compliance, investigation, and enforcement issues arising under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), and sanctions administered by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC)
The EAR, ITAR, and various sanctions programs administered by OFAC
Drafting and reviewing license applications and cross border commercial contracts
Excellent written and oral communication skills, superior analytical skills and the ability to manage client engagements
Excellent interpersonal skills, team player, strong work ethic and the ability to manage multiple priorities and assume a high degree of responsibility.
Candidates should also have exposure to, or familiarity in:
Conducting internal investigations
Drafting voluntary disclosures to the relevant government enforcement authorities
Responding to government inquiries, administrative and criminal subpoenas, and other forms of government investigations
Conducting due diligence and reverse due diligence reviews related to export controls, sanctions and anti-corruption compliance in the context of due diligence in mergers and acquisitions
Advising on issues related to export controls and economic sanctions in the context of day-to-day business transactions
Familiarity with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and U.S. anti-boycott laws and regulations is strongly preferred
