Job Description

Orrick’s Tax practice is seeking a Junior Associate/ Midlevel Associate with 3 to 5+ years of transactional tax experience who desires to join our dynamic and innovative team. The candidate would be expected to primarily support the Energy & Infrastructure group related to the financing of renewable energy assets and the monetization of tax credits. The position would involve helping developers, sponsors, and investors to successfully develop wind and solar projects and other renewable energy projects in energy transition. Orrick has long been a leading firm in the renewables sector.

The ideal candidate will have large law firm experience focused on the tax aspects of renewable energy transactions, including tax equity financings and M&A. We will also consider candidates with sophisticated partnership tax or tax credit structuring experience who are especially interested in renewable energy. Candidates must be highly motivated and responsive, and must possess superior oral and written communication, logical reasoning, research, and organizational skills.

Preference will be given to candidates who would work in the following offices: New York, Houston, San Francisco, and Washington, DC. We will consider candidates in other locations (including candidates who desire to work remotely) on a case-by-case basis. Membership to the State Bar of the desired location is required.

The amount of pay offered will be determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to qualifications, relevant experience, primary work location, market data, and internal equity. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.

Here are the targeted pay ranges based on a regular, full-time position in applicable Orrick office locations, including a National targeted pay range applicable to applicants who will work outside the locations described below:

Targeted Pay Range: California Major Markets* $250,000 – $345,000| New York City $250,000 – $345,000| National [including California Minor Markets**, Washington & Colorado] $$250,000 – $345,000

* California Major Markets includes San Francisco, Silicon Valle y, Los Angeles, Orange County, Santa Monica
** California Minor Markets includes Sacramento and all other California offices
