Job Description

Robinson+Cole, an AmLaw 200 firm, seeks a senior associate or counsel level attorney to join the Tax + Exempt Organizations group, located in any of its East Coast offices.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of seven years’ experience with the following:

  • Counseling a variety of exempt organizations, both private foundations and public charities, with respect to structure and formation, charitable gift planning, transactional matters, and unrelated business taxable income strategy and planning.
  • Tax structuring and the formation of business entities, registration with tax and other regulatory agencies, and the drafting and revising of operating agreements and other governance documents.
  • Serving as corporate counsel to nonprofit organization clients and representing exempt organization clients in matters before the Office of the Attorney General, the Internal Revenue
  • Service, the Department of Revenue Services, the Probate Courts, and other authorities.
  • Advising on structure and tax-related issues associated with venture philanthropy collaborations, donor-advised funds, private foundations, and corporations.
  • Strong academic credentials, excellent writing and analytical skills, and large-firm or equivalent experience are required. All R+C attorneys must be admitted in the state of their primary office location.

New York Applicants: Please note that the target base salary range for this position for New York based candidates is $235,000 to $245,000. Actual base salary within that range will be determined by several components including but not limited to the individual’s class year, years of experience, skills, qualifications, and office location.
