Fintech & Financial Services Associate – Payments

Wilson Sonsini is seeking an associate with more than 3 years of experience working in payments and banking law with a focus on regulatory compliance to join its Fintech and Financial Services team.  We are looking for an associate with the skills and curiosity to develop mastery—and with creativity and an entrepreneurial mindset to help us build a modern payments practice in a fast-growing and rapidly changing industry.  
Candidates will have the opportunity to represent financial technology pioneers and work exclusively in fintech and financial services, representing startups and founder-led companies across all stages, from pre-formation to capital markets.
The ideal candidate will have broad work experience in counseling companies with payments-, banking-, or credit-related products, reviewing contracts, and supporting corporate deals involving such companies, including risk assessment and regulatory compliance counseling.  We are looking for an attorney with strong interest in navigating regulatory compliance and providing transactional advice to innovative financial services companies.  Candidates must have superior organizational and project management skills, a meticulous eye for detail, a commitment to client service and experience, and good business judgment.  Energy to help build a growing practice is also required. Successful candidates may sit in New York or Washington DC.  Hybrid work schedule is the norm; currently must be in the office at least two days a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays).  Candidates must have the flexibility to potentially come in more frequently.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Salary range of $260,000 – $435,000, based on year classification.
  • Discretionary merit bonuses may also be awarded.
