Junior/Mid-Level Associate, Tax

Job Description

Ice Miller is seeking an attorney with at least 2-3 years of experience working on federal, state, and local tax matters. Candidates also must have excellent client relationship and communication skills, the ability to work independently, a team-oriented mentality, and be a motivated self-starter with strong law school credentials and references.

In this position you will:

•  Research and analyze complex federal tax matters
•  Assist in structuring mergers and acquisitions and related tax work on such transactions
•  Work with tax exempt organizations advising them on corporate governance matters and federal tax issues
•  Assist on tax controversy matters, including state and local tax audits, appeals, and litigation
•  Collaborate with partners and associates across practice groups and across offices
•  Interact independently with clients
•  Supervise and review more junior attorneys’ work

The ideal candidate will:

•  Have prior firm experience working on complex tax matters
•  Excel in a team environment
•  Demonstrate a keen interest in developing and implementing relationship-building skills both internally and externally
•  Have prior experiences that prepare them to work with attorneys, staff and clients from cultures and backgrounds different from their own
•  Be highly motivated and a self-starter
•  Be flexible and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
•  Have excellent written and oral communication
•  Have excellent law school credentials and references
