Ice Miller is seeking an attorney with worker’s compensation experience to join our Workplace Solutions practice group in Indianapolis. Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of experience handling worker’s compensation matters on behalf of employers. A reduced hours schedule will be considered for this position.

In this position you will:

  • Represent the interests of the employer at hearings, trials, depositions, oral arguments, mediations, arbitrations, and other proceedings
  • Work directly with claims professionals providing legal analysis and advice
  • Prepare and file legal pleadings and documents
  • Conduct discovery including gathering and reviewing medical evidence and medical records and taking depositions of claimants, doctors, medical experts, and others
  • Assist with the investigation of accidents and problem areas and compile and submit required reports
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of the client
  • Assist with developing and maintaining client relationships
  • Have opportunities for advancement in a collegial environment
  • Receive training opportunities with growing levels of responsibility
  • Collaborate with talented and team-oriented attorneys across practice groups and across offices
  • Be allowed to work remotely two days per week

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have knowledge of the worker’s compensation system in Indiana and experience defending clients against workers compensation claims
  • Be experienced with investigating worker’s compensation claims and advising clients on reducing liability and worker’s compensation costs
  • Excel in a team environment
  • Be highly motivated and a self-starter
  • Be flexible and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Demonstrate a keen interest in developing and implementing relationship-building skills both internally and externally
  • Have prior experiences that prepare them to work with attorneys, staff, and clients from cultures and backgrounds different from their own
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Have excellent law school credentials and references
